The Bent Umbrella Queer Performing Arts Society produces events in Vancouver, BC fostering queer and gender bending performance. We aim to build a diverse and inclusive performance community. We are open to dialogue, accountability, responsibility, physical accessibility, embrace and respect diversity and participation.
In August 2009, Bent Umbrella hosts Vancouver’s next fabulous alternative East side Pride party, Q FACTOR. We aim to present an event where any/all proud freaks & geeks can feel welcome, thereby creating a "club house" of sorts for queers, kinksters, transfolk, and allies. In October 2007 we produced the ninth annual International Drag King Community Extravaganza. IDKE is a conference on gender and performance that takes place in a different city every year.
