Oh Elvira.
I love Elvira Kurt. It's just so unfortunate she's been relegated to these obnoxious and homely-produced OUTtv specials. Save the entertainment reporting for Melissa DiMarco - she's already 'Out There'.

K. Ouch! We love Out@TIFF. And Elvira is great, very funny and by all accounts great to work with. It's lots of fun to produce Out@TIFF and the clips that run on Xtra.ca from it are very popular. We've also had great feedback from TIFF and from those profiled in the program. Sorry this one didn't resonate with you. Keep watching.

Appointment television? Notsomuch.
Like I said, I love Elvira and surely she's amazing to work with, but a month after TIFF has ended, doesn't a broadcast half-hour about the film festival somehow make OUTtv look... late to the party? I've seen almost every other network already cover the festival in varying levels of detail (re: Out There w/Melissa DiMarco) last month when it was fresh and interesting and relevant and exciting. Even with a skeleton crew, it doesn't take that long to assemble a show that is ostensibly a compilation of intros, interviews and cutaways. "But there's a gay angle that isn't seen anywhere else!" Valid point, Devil's Advocate, and there's a place for this sort of thing on the interwebs, just not sure it's the kind of thing I'm all atwitter to sit down and watch on TeeVee. I can imagine that these 'clips' do well online, maybe that's where they should belong.
