Foreskin - What you need to know

The highlight of my weekend was this guy:

I like to call him Dr Foreskin. Other people like to call him Glen Callender from the Canadian Foreskin Awareness Project. Look at that lab coat and his lensless glasses. If that doesn't make him a doctor, nothing does. I would trust him with life... I mean foreskin... I mean uhhhhhhh.

Anyway, at East Side Pride this past Saturday, at Grandview Park off Commercial Drive, I learned where this guy can fit nine seedless grapes. I know, right? All of that happening while Joan-E occasionally stroked my left leg and boyfriend Steve held a plastic bowl for Dr Foreskin to shoot the grapes out Thai-ping-pong-ball-sex-show style. Yeah. You get it. Waking daymare. The only thing missing was Bob Saget and a rubber fist.

Dr Foreskin is trying to change federal regulations that govern male circumcision. It's illegal in Canada for parents to circumcise their daughters. It's legal for their sons. Significant nerve loss occurs for both genders and a botched cut can result in the loss of the entire penis or even death.

In the meantime, if you don't know what happens during a circumcision, check this out.

Watched it with boyfriend, Steve, Sunday morning. Best. Breakfast. Ever.

Ugh, more from the anti-cut gay mafia. You know, it's next to impossible to find a guy under 40 who is cut these days. Uncut guys are clearly the new majority, and yet we still have to listen to more anti-circumcision propaganda. Boys in Canada today are cut at a rate of less than 15% so can we please stop carrying on like it's mass mutilation? Because of this new low ratio of neonatal circ, many guys opt to undergo the procedure AS ADULTS (where they indeed remember it) because of problems with their foreskins. There has never been any evidence to show that cut guys are sexually inferior to uncut guys, which is basically what the uncut fetish lobby is trying to have you believe. There is nothing wrong with being cut and female circumcision is a totally different story. Despite all you hear about "nerve damage" I've never heard of a cut penis not working right. This only leads to the trend of self-hating cut men who go to extreme measures to bring back their foreskins, which is equally as disturbing as circumcision itself. Guess what everybody? There is life without foreskin and men have proven that for decades!! We are neither damaged nor inferior!! Just because something has gone out of fashion doesn't mean we have to banned altogether. How will eliminating circumcision save our planet? People need to ease up about this.

Ugh, more überdefensive indignation from the cut crowd. Look, you're a minor sexual amputee, OK? Circumcision didn't make you cleaner, hornier or prettier. But no one is implying your johnson isn't functional at a basic level, either. It's about tomorrow's babies, not you.

Do you get any pleasant sensations from your foreskin? No? Then what's the beef about those of us who do?

Bottom line: foreskins are fun. Hella fun. And they look awesome. God's perfect package: packed with excitement, keeps other parts clean and moist, protects the whole tackle, springs into position for sex and puts itself away at night. And the price can't be beat - one free with every boy!

Circumcision costs money, is messy & painful, takes a whole lot away, and has a horrendous complication rate. What? You didn't know that? Talk to a paediatric urologist sometime and expand your mind. Or just read here: http://www.mothering.com/discussions/showthread.php?t=112410

The world spends close to 2 billion dollars a year circumcising boys and fixing the botches. It's been proven over and over again that intact boys develop just as well as cut boys, even better; e.g., UK, Japan and Argentina, and all their neighbouring countries. Canada's and Australia's STI stats are improving every year that the circ rate goes down and more intact guys reach adulthood. How about we build on that trend and collectively spend the $aving$ on cancer, diabetes and Alzheimers research?

Shift away from circumcision = enlightenment. Let the grape games begin!

Well Proud Cut Man you certainly sound content with your skinless penis but you shouldn't assume that your happy state is the same for all whom circumcision has been forced upon. You venture to say that you "have never heard of a cut penis not working right." Well perhaps you haven't actually looked or asked but its relatively easy to find many men very unhappy the diminished state permanently imposed by circumcision. Google circumcision regrets, botched circumcision, penis ablato, penis gangrene, circumcision death if you have any interest in actually looking at this issue to see people severely affected by unwarranted genital reduction surgery. For those most severely affected by circumcision the chance of having a normal sex life is impossible after circumcision. Perhaps the most common negative side effect from circumcision is the removal of too much skin. Men who suffer from this have painful erections straining at what penile skin is left, pulling hairy scrotal skin up the shaft.

Nature provided you with a foreskin, a mobile sheath of highly enervated sexual skin to masturbate with. Most men value their foreskins. Those who have had them forcibly removed without consent often try to justify the loss with the bullshit medial excuses that began with John Harvey Kellogg and other Victorian quacks looking to harm and impact the sexuality of children.

Recently, the 2007 the British Journal of Urology published the findings of a study, Fine-touch pressure thresholds in the adult penis, that concluded: Circumcision ablates the five most sensitive areas of the penis.

"Anti-cut gay mafia", "uncut fetish lobby" strange names to call those who work to protect children from unnecessary and sexually diminishing genital surgery. Circumcision forced up any human is fascist. Possessing a foreskin has nothing to do with "fashion" and everything to do with human rights. The entire issue of circumcision end immediately once we as a society respect the rights of all children, male, female, intersexed, etc to their whole human body. You want to pierce, tattoo or alter your genitals in any way, go ahead. Hopefully you are fully informed of the risks and consequences. Children however need to be protected from permanent body modifications.

Yes male and female circumcision are different. But they have more similarities than differences. Both are forced upon infants and children who have no say in the matter. Many adults who were circumcised as children assert that they are better off without their full genital equipment. Both male and female genital cutting are done for superstitious reasons (excuses) and the pathetic excuse of hygiene.

How will eliminating circumcision save our planet? Happier infants = happier children = happier adults. Its pretty simple.

I guess you really don't mind that you are full of shit and insulting on top of it all. Go fuck yourself. Your attempt at insulting people who choose male circumcision reeks of hate. Hmmm is this a backhanded insult at the Jewish community?? duh. You fucking loser perv.

@Proud cut guy: Because of this new low ratio of neonatal circ, many guys opt to undergo the procedure AS ADULTS (where they indeed remember it) because of problems with their foreskins." True, if nobody has a foreskin, nobody can have problem with it (or any of the pleasure of it) or opt to have it cut off. Well, duh. But where circumcision is not customary (and doctors know more about the foreskin than how to cut it off), the lifetime risk of having to have it cut off is very, very low.

@Jon: Nobody has any beef with "people who choose male circumcision" for themselves. It's those who impose it on others who can't resist we are arguing with, on behalf of their victims. Whether it's because of the parents' religion or not makes no difference (and the vast majority of religious circumcision is Muslim). My freedom to practise my religion ends where your body begins, and vice-versa.

I don't think calling someone (it's not clear who) a "perv" will wring many withers on a gay board.

Calling us a "mafia" is quite funny. It is the circumcision lobby that works behind closed doors, that makes any money from it, and that has a conspiracy of silence (nurses are told to lie to mothers that "he slept right through it").

Either you have it or you don't , I know uncut men that have had major problems with their foreskin. If you don't have it .Get over it!!! Cut, uncut don't care as long as skin is retractable when hard , clean, lint and odor free, and I can get it to squirt! YUM YUM YUM

The Foreskin is Not the Wrapper, It's the Candy! The foreskin is nature's surrogate vagina that teaches the owner and his partner how to best please. Circumcision is also medically known as Penile Reduction. That's 75% (65%-85%) loss of erogenous sexual receptors and keratinization (callous) thickness for a 45yo of 1-2 condoms.(Sorrells et al."Fine-Touch Pressure Test of the Adult Penis", Dr. John Taylor, world's penis expert "Frenular Delta" @"saving Our Planet" READ James A. Prescott's "Humanity and the Origins of Violence". READ Glick's (Jewish) "Marked in Your Flesh" for some 200 pages on complete Jewish history of circumcision. (Abraham's Covenant did not say anything about circumcision Genesis 15, but was added by priests 13 centuries later in Genesis 17 (P-text) BTW- I was told by Tina Kimmel she heard the majority of young Israelites are atheists. A non retractable foreskin is just another state of foreskin not a condition nor a problem unless the owner thinks it is and so told by society. The Royal Dutch Medical Association has come out against male circumcision saying it physically and psychologically harms. I started happily choosing circ. to find out later it was the worst mistake in my life! Now restoring which will add 200%+ sensitive mucosa, de-karatinize, and restore gliding. Say good bye and good riddance to lube!

Boys deserve equal protection from unconsented genital cutting as girls. I applaud Glen for speaking out against this sick practise and support any movement to make it illegal as it should have been made long ago. There are men who say that circumcision has not caused them much or any harm but that does not change the fact that some of us have been horribly hurt and devastated by it. To cut any part of someone else's genitals without consent or medical necessity is wrong regardless of the sex of the victim, how popular it once was or how uncommon it now is.

i would strongly disagree that the majority of guys under 40 are uncut.... i would, in fact, say that the majority are cut. and i love that people are advocating for the simple fact that it seriously reduces sensitivity. i actually had a buddy i went to grade school with who was so embarassed about being uncut (a straighty, i might add) that he got adult circumcision. i have never asked him why and if he's happy with it, because i have no interest in it. im uncut and im thrilled with it, even though i didnt feel so thrilled when i was younger and everyone looked different than mine! good on DR. FORESKIN - its about time someone took up this cause.

I'm cut, I like being cut, I don't like uncut (just personal preference) and I think cut cocks look nicer. I also know more that 5 guys who all had to get it done when they were older due to complications with their foreskin. I didn't know this was SUCH a big deal these days? Crazy town.

Calan ca

@Calan: that means you know many, many more than five guys who DIDN'T have to get it done when they were older, and they wouldn't thank you to have it done for no reason, especially if it went wrong. It's not so much that it's a bigger deal than it ever was, but the Internet has made it much easier for the many men who DON'T like it to complain. They've had enough, and they're not going to take it any more.

I disagree with Proud Cut Man - check your stats; circumcision in Canada didn't take a significant nosedive until the 90's, so its more like "guys under 20" as opposed to "guys under 40".

But the main reason I wanted to comment was Calan's statement of "I don't like uncut (just personal preference)". I've been in several situations with friends who have said similar things when the subject of circumcision came up. Things like "uncut guys are dirty/gross", "it looks nasty" or as simple as Calan put it: "I don't like uncut". Those social situations were every bit as awkward and self-esteem damaging as being at a table where someone says "I don't like gays" - not knowing that you're gay - and then you have to sit and watch as everyone at the table nods in agreement. It's become the norm, and is deemed acceptable to badmouth or mock foreskin/uncut men, and THAT'S why you have guys running out getting adult circumcisions (and I know a couple guys who have, and both confirmed it was not because of 'complications' related to their foreskin, but cosmetic). So I applaud Glen for doing what he's doing if it helps with the goal of ending the stigma associated with being uncut.
