What's in a name?

The Joan-Es and Raye Sunshines of the drag world may be onto something after all. If you've ever thought about changing your name to get ahead in your career, maybe you should just go ahead and do it.

Here's a list of arguably successful musicians who changed their name for the sake of their career.

Turns out this guy wasn't just hiding his sexuality... heyo!

And for the record, I've been considering $ean Holla for about 8 seconds and it's feeling like a good fit. Yeah? YEAH?

I’m not surprised that Up Your Alley has chosen Clay Aiken as his role model. Aiken is hot beyond belief, with a high-octane mix of sassy smarts, charisma, and a great big heart to boot. He’s the man we all want to have – and the man we all to be.

But if Up Your Alley becomes $ean Holla, he will be saying goodbye to millions of witty puns on “whore” – or rather, the same witty pun repeated millions of times. However, urbandictionary.com notes the new name has endless unmined potential, all the way from “holla atcha boy” to “holla atcha girl”.

Part of me wants to say yeah to the new name. But it will try the patience of a saint, even a man like Mr. Up Your Alley, who spends hours every day talking to call centre employees so he doesn’t hurt their feelings by hanging up. So I wish him much joy as he says, for the millionth time, “My first name is $ean. That is spelled Dollar-Sign-E-A-N.”
